Holiday Care Packages for the Homeless - December 17, 2009

About the Event...

On December 17, 2009, at 6:00 p.m. approximately 25 volunteers met at U.C. Hastings School of Law (198 McAllister Street, Room B-2, San Francisco) to put together care packages for the homeless living in shelters and on the streets in the San Francisco Tenderloin area. ABC volunteers distributed 250 holiday care packages to the homeless, as well as over 100 blankets. We would like to send out a huge thank you to all of you that contributed time or money to this amazing project. Thanks to you, many of those forced to live on the streets in our city were more comfortable this holiday season.

Information about the Homeless in the San Francisco Tenderloin Area

ABC highly recommends the recently released film titled "Empress Hotel" for those seeking more information about the homeless in the San Francisco Tenderloin area. This film follows the tenants of the Empress Hotel, a Tenderloin facility established by the San Francisco Department of Public Health to house the recently homeless, allowing us to view their lives and develop some insight into the plight of the homeless in this area.
