Holiday Care Packages for the Homeless - December 9, 2010

About the Event...

On December 9, 2010, at 6:00 p.m., ABC volunteers got together and assembled 300 holiday care packages full of socks, scarves, hats, ponchos, gloves, food, lotion, tissues, chapstick, and more, and distributed them to the homeless in the tenderloin region of San Francisco. The event was a huge success! We had approximately 30 volunteers, and thanks to generous donations from various firms and individuals, we were also able to provide toys to 77 children at a nearby homeless shelter (their parents received one of our standard care packages as well). The children were thrilled, as were their parents. We would like to send out a huge thank you to our sponsors this year - no business has been spared by the effects of the recession so we are especially thankful to those firms and businesses that were able to come up with the funds to donate to this amazing event despite the ever looming financial hardship that most businesses are facing. Our volunteers were also especially lucky this year as the amazing Paxti Pizzaria provided pizza for all of the volunteers for free! It was an unexpected and incredibly delicious donation, right when we needed it most - THANK YOU! We hope to make this event even larger next year, so stay posted on what you can do to help us prepare for next year's event. Thank you again to our volunteers that showed up at this event - each and every person was necessary in pulling this event off, and we could not have been more pleased with the results. Below are some pictures of the evening.
